When you think of luxury
in the Caribbean plenty of other places come to mind before Curacao.
Mostly because you might not even know that Curacao the island exists.
The liquor, well, you always knew that existed. But the island? Not so
much.
And if you did by chance know about Curacao the island, then you probably knew it for its unbelievable beaches and incredible snorkeling and diving. Seriously, Curacao is home to some of the most incredible dive sites in the world – think shipwrecks, brightly colored coral and reefs and mesmerizing wildlife.
But those notions are changing. And while the island still only has two five-star resorts, there are a lot of exciting things happening there, making it an all-around burgeoning secret luxury destination for travelers ready to experience something new. From the year-old Curacao Winery to the annual Curacao North Sea Jazz Festival, one of the most exciting developments might just be the new suites at Baoase Luxury Resort, one of those two five-star resorts I mentioned earlier. Be warned, once you know about these suites, you just might come down with a case of some serious Curacao Caribbean wanderlust.
Just this past year, Baoase unveiled their new residential-style
Beachfront and Superior Beachfront Pool Suites, each complete with their
own massive outdoor stone bathtub and outdoor rain shower (you’ll find
the toilet indoors), as well as their own private beach and access to
the infinity pool. Only the Bunga Langgeng Suite comes with its own
private infinity pool, Jacuzzi and garden. The one-level villas are
light and airy, perfect for taking advantage of that incredible
Caribbean weather. And with large wooden doors, you’re in control of how
private, or open your villa can be.
But maybe your own private beach and infinity pool isn’t enough for
you. You want something more luxurious. More private. How about your own
private island instead? It doesn’t get much more luxurious and private
than that, right? Well you’re in luck, Baoase has one of those available
for rent too. Meet Isla Kiniw.
While your transportation of choice to the island will undoubtedly be by helicopter, since the island comes with its own helicopter landing pad, you can also get to the island by boat. But where’s the fun in that?
The villa on Isla Kiniw accommodates eight people in their four bedrooms, and not only does the villa come with your own personal beach (obviously), infinity pool, pool bar, lounge chairs and pretty much everything else that you need for the perfect remote beach escape, you’ll also have access to a private boat and your own personal putting green. Snorkeling gear, canoes and other watersports equipment are also in reach when the itch to explore the water surrounding your private island hits.
Despite the luxury and access to watersports that Baoase offers,
you’re still going to want to head off property to explore Curacao. If
not for the Curasub, a certified mini-submarine for tourists, or to hand
feed sharks, sea turtles and stingrays at the Curacao Sea Aquarium, or
even to sip on wines at Curacao Winery, then for the Green Rum at Netto
Bar or the pinchos on Friday nights at Equus.
