Nominations For TV BAFTA Awards Revealed

Luther star Idris Elba is up against Oscar winner Mark Rylance whose historical drama Wolf Hall leads the way with four nods.

Georgina Campbell and Dermot O'Leary announce BAFTA nominations

Idris Elba, Mark Rylance and Sheridan Smith are among the stars nominated for TV BAFTA awards.
Historical drama Wolf Hall leads the way with four nominations including one for Rylance in the leading actor category.
The star, who won a best supporting actor Oscar this year for Spielberg film Bridge of Spies, will battle it out at the BAFTAs against Luther's Elba, Ben Whishaw for London Spy and Stephen Graham (This Is England '90).
Smith is nominated in the leading actress category for her portrayal as a cancer patient in The C Word.
She is up against Rylance's Wolf Hall co-star Claire Foy as well as Suranne Jones (Doctor Foster) and Ruth Madeley (Don't Take My Baby).

As well as Rylance and Foy's best actor and actress nominations, Anton Lesser was recognised in the best supporting actor category.
Lesser will compete against, among others, film and TV star Sir Ian McKellen for The Dresser.

Both Elba and Sir Ian have picked up their first BAFTA TV nominations, although Sir Ian has been nominated three times for BAFTA film awards.
Wolf Hall, which depicts Thomas Cromwell's rise to power through Henry VIII's royal court, is in the best drama series category alongside Humans, The Last Panthers and No Offence.
The shows battling it out for best mini-series are Doctor Foster, The Enfield Haunting, London Spy and This is England ’90.
A one-off show starring singer Adele is up for best entertainment programme alongside Britain's Got Talent, Strictly Come Dancing and the TFI Friday anniversary special.
Sky News is nominated in the news coverage category for 'From Turkey To Greece' - an hour of special programming presented by Colin Brazier in Lesbos and featuring correspondent Alex Crawford's report about refugees making the perilous journey to Europe by dinghy.
The nominations were announced at BAFTA's London headquarters by X Factor host Dermot O'Leary and last year's leading actress winner Georgina Campbell, who starred in Murdered By My Boyfriend.
The awards will be announced on 8 May at a Royal Festival Hall ceremony hosted by Graham Norton.
