Introducing summer's hottest hair trend: what you need to know about Colombré

Ombré hair is without a doubt one of the huge hair trends of the past few years, but now it's time to shake things up a bit. So without further ado allow us to introduce you to the next big thing for summer 2015: colombré.
Using the same technique as ombré hairstyles but with brighter, bolder, summer hues, colombré is a great way to update your look for the sunny season. The concept involves leaving the roots their natural color and adding flashes of pastel or fluo tones to the bottom half of your tresses, making it both fun and practical in terms of regrowth. Different shades are often blended together to create a rainbow effect (in fact the trend is a kind of mashup of ombré and rainbow hair, which was also a big hit this year).

Spearheaded by celebrities such as Kylie Jenner, who is known for her love of the turquoise colombré look, the trend is now taking over Instagram, with women everywhere posting images of their kaleidoscopic tresses using the hashtag #colombre.

There are a couple of different ways to go colombré -- if you're nervous then clip in extensions such as this set from Rainbow Hair Colour, which are a great way to test it out before committing to anything permanent. Kylie even launched her own range of blue locks over at Bellami at the end of last year.

However, if you're ready to get the dye out then there are a few tips that might make the process easier. Beauty blogger Irene Mahmud Khan suggests using Garnier Color Styler, a product which only lasts a few washes so is the perfect way to get colombré for a special occasion and is applied by hand for an individual effect. Over at The Faux Theory, the advice is to 'feather' the color using a downward stroke when applying dye with a brush to avoid any harsh division lines between the colombré and your natural shade.
