Design impresario Bruno Bellamich, creative director and co-founder of Bell & Ross, introduced a new concept car along with his new watch designs at the Baselworld watch show last week. Bellamich calls the prototype AeroGT  an airplane-car, a GT grand sport/fighter-jet inspired racing car, which bears a striking resemblance to the batmobile.

“Every year, in order to create new watch models, I need new sources of inspiration,” says Belamich. “Following the success of our B-Rocket motorbike in 2014, I wanted to go even further and design the Bell & Ross car.” Once designed, the AeroGT concept car became the inspiration for a new watch collection – the BR 03 AeroGT. The futuristic car is low and long and pointed like an arrow, with sharp angles and cutting overhangs like a stealth airplane. A drop-shaped glass roof recalls the glass cover of a jet cockpit. Two large exhaust pipes resemble turbojet engine exhausts, and the turbine-style rims imitate the vanes of supersonic aircraft engines. The car is also designed with GT grand touring autos in mind, with a two-seater layout and a 4.21 V8 twin-turbo engine. The chassis and body are made with carbon fiber, so the car is light as a feather. With 610 hp, it reaches 100/km in less than three seconds and a peak speed of 315 km/h.

Note that the images of the car shown here are computer-generated; the car is not built yet, but it is a feasible design. Two years ago, Bellamich designed a motorcycle prototype that did make it into production. The Bell & Ross B-Rocket concept motorcycle was built by Shaw Harley Davidson, and it was a star attraction at the Couture Show in Las Vegas that year.
